40th European Human Genetics Conference

Welcoming AddressDear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to participate in the 40th European Human Genetics Conference (ESHG 2008) in Barcelona, Spain, at the end of May 2008. This meeting will continue in the successful tradition of excellent conferences that cover the latest developments in the field of human genetics that are of interest both for clinicians and research scientists.

The city of Barcelona, founded over 2,000 years ago, has been the traditional gateway to Spain. Through it entered many diverse cultures, which came to enrich its heritage. The trace of this diversity can be followed through its Gothic Quarter, built on the Roman ruins and through its art-nouveau presided by Gaudi´s exuberant architecture.

Barcelona is easily accessible from all major European and International cities and enjoys spring-like climatic conditions offering the visitor its own evocative and appealing lifestyle. Located in a wonderful natural environment by the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona has become one of the Europe’s main tourist destinations, particularly after the host of the 1992 Olympic Games. The city offers a perfect blend combining modern trade, technology and science with daytime attractions, evening entertainment and superb gastronomy.

We look forward to hosting you in Barcelona in May 2008.

Eduardo Tizzano
Local host ESHG 2008
