V.Skvortsova: do not be afraid that you will be "disassembled into organs"

The Ministry of Health has developed rules for the removal of organs for transplantation

Copper newsThe draft law developed by the Ministry of Health, which prescribes the rules for the removal of organs for transplantation, will soon be posted for public discussion.

This was announced by the head of the department Veronika Skvortsova in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

According to the draft law, adult Russians who wish to donate their organs for transplantation must declare this during their lifetime. This decision will be entered into a special database. If a citizen has not left any orders in this regard, the fate of his organs can be disposed of by his next of kin. All transplantation operations will remain free of charge, and organ donation will be gratuitous.

"For the first time, the bill will determine the maximum time – one hour, during which medical workers are required to notify relatives of death. It is very important to ensure the rights of citizens," Skvortsova explained.

In accordance with the current legislation, neither a living nor a deceased child can become an organ or tissue donor. The new law allows the removal of children's organs, while the right to make an appropriate decision remains with one of the parents.

The draft law also prescribes the criteria for ascertaining death for complex cases, for example, "if a young healthy person has brain death as a result of an accident, but with the help of modern resuscitation methods, it is possible to maintain the work of the heart and lungs for a long time." Such criteria are defined separately for adults and children. According to the minister, Russians should not be afraid that they will be "disassembled into organs."

"There should never, under any circumstances, be an interface between resuscitators and transplant doctors. Therefore, in my opinion, the advantage of the bill is that three management segments are strictly allocated in the organ donation service," Skvortsova stressed. The head of the Ministry of Health did not specify what these segments are.
