Angels will fly to St. Petersburg
IV International Assembly of Business Angels
The non-profit partnership "St. Petersburg Organization of Business Angels" (SOBA) is holding the IV International Assembly of Business Angels in the period from 24 to 26 June 2015 in St. Petersburg.
In 2015, the Assembly will be held under the name "Severny Bridge" and will unite the leading communities of business angels from all over Russia. The aim of the project will be to create a "Network organization of business angels of Russia", through which aspiring entrepreneurs from all regions of Russia will have the opportunity to study, consult, highly expert evaluation and, as a result, present their projects to investors at the central and one of the most innovative community sites in St. Petersburg.
Expanding the opportunities and increasing the importance of the movement of business angels, the creation of the institute of highly professional expert evaluation of projects are designed, first of all, to attract the attention of potential investors and promote safe and highly efficient investment of capital in new promising businesses. As part of the promotion of the 2015 Assembly, it is planned to organize a large-scale PR campaign in order to increase the importance and form a wide information field around the mission of business angels and create effective investment mechanisms, as well as an advertising campaign to announce the event.
Traditionally, the Assembly is held with the official support of the All-Russian Public Organization of Small and Medium-sized Businesses "SUPPORT of RUSSIA", the All-Russian public organization "Business Russia", the Russian Venture Company, the National Association of Business Angels, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District, the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation of St. Petersburg, St. PetersburgSt. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg.
Today, the Assembly is more relevant than ever and fully meets the goals and objectives outlined in the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 98-R. dated January 27, 2015, namely: support for import substitution and export of a wide range of non-primary, including high-tech goods; assistance to the development of small and medium-sized businesses; creation of opportunities to attract working capital and investment resources. These are the areas identified as key in the work of the Assembly, including the search and development of projects in the field of high technology, investing in talented youth, creating investment elevators for future strong and competitive Russian companies.
In addition, this year the assembly plans to pay special attention to the revival of the culture of Russian entrepreneurship. Nowadays, an appeal to the origins of Russian entrepreneurship can help in the implementation of the "moral reformation" that is necessary for the success of modern economic reforms.
In The Program Of The Assembly "North Bridge":
1. A two-day congress block, the main topics of which will be:
- Regional partnership of business angels and business angel networks.
- Opportunities and problems of partnership between an entrepreneur and a business angel
- Creating a favorable climate for investment in early-stage Russian companies,
- Strategies for entering new markets
- Organization of syndicative investments (financing) of innovations and ways to minimize risks,
- Traditions and history of Russian entrepreneurship and their significance for the development and upbringing of a new Russian businessman.
2. The exposition of innovative projects, in which exhibiting companies are given the opportunity to present their business projects to Russian and foreign business angels, venture investors and interested business audience.
3. A two-day training school for business angels, organized by SOBA with the support of RVC.
4. Competition of innovative projects "Severny Bridge", which will be attended by more than 100 innovative companies whose product is focused on the international market and the amount of investment in which does not exceed 1 million euros. The competition is held jointly with the OBO "SUPPORT OF RUSSIA".
We plan that the IV International Assembly of Business Angels, organized by SOBA with the support of RVC, OBO "SUPPORT of Russia" and "Delovaya Rossiya", ASI, RAVI, NABA, the administration of St. Petersburg and the international business angel networks FiBAN and EstBAN will be attended by more than 400 participants: private investors, representatives of venture funds, large corporations, development institutions and authorities, entrepreneurs and representatives of innovative student organizations. We plan to invite Candace Johnson, President of the European Association of Business Angels, representatives of FiBAN, EstBAN and other international investors as an honorary guest of the Assembly.
The non-profit partnership "SOBA" was founded in October 2008. It is the only investor club in the Northwest region specializing in the commercialization of innovative projects. The purpose of the organization is to help investors and startup projects in cooperation and business development both in Russia and abroad.
