All-Russian seminar "Genetics of life expectancy and aging"
March 25-26, 2008, Syktyvkar, Komi Republic, Russia

Scientific directions:

• Modern ideas about the role of genes in the regulation of life expectancy and aging. Model objects in the study of aging.
• Cellular aging. Telomeric theory of aging. Apoptosis and aging.
• Aging and age-dependent diseases.
• Environmental modifiers of aging (oxidative and temperature stress, light regime, ionizing radiation, diet restriction, starvation). Free radical theory of aging.
• The role of genetic variability in the population heterogeneity of life expectancy. Sexual dimorphism of life expectancy. The evolution of aging.
• Geroprotective and adaptogenic properties of natural compounds.
