Personnel for the new biomedical industry

The All-Russian conference with elements of the scientific school will be held "Targeted training of specialists as a mechanism for operational staffing of the real sector of the economy" will be held on September 10, 2011 at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The conference will focus on personnel training for a new type of industry – the biomedical industry.

Concept[…]

The transition to a knowledge-based economy imposes new serious requirements on the education system, which is a producer of specialists necessary for the market, especially in the fields of scientific and innovative activities. At present, when opportunities for freedom of scientific creativity, open exchange of information and international cooperation are expanding, it is necessary to modernize existing educational and scientific programs in real time. There is an awareness of the need for changes in the approaches and principles of functioning of educational and innovative activities, since the contribution of knowledge to economic development is now even more significant than financial investments and becomes crucial for building a competitive economy.

The development of biomedical technologies in recent years shows that an explosive growth of the biotechnology economy is possible in the world by 2020. This growth will require not only the involvement of thousands of specialists – engineers and biologists to work on one task, but will also set a new task for the education system – the training of specialists in the field of biomedical engineering. Such areas as regenerative medicine, bioelectronics, artificial neurons will require completely new competencies from yesterday's university graduates.

Facing the realities of the next stage of the transformation of global industry, the task of Russian universities is to prepare and understand – how can the training of scientific and technical leaders of tomorrow change? What kind of personnel will be needed for the new biomedical industry? What experience has been accumulated by Russian universities in training personnel for industrial enterprises, and how can this experience be used? How will the face of engineering education of the future change? How much is it possible to graduate biologists-engineers at all?

Main results of the conference

The result of the conference should be proposals for the development of a program for mass training of Russian citizens at the Open University of Singular Technologies – an information project on the portal opensingularity.ru .

The conference is held as an All-Russian platform for discussing the results of scientific work of Russian young scientists and postgraduates, exchanging views on the main areas of modern science between young and experienced researchers, for establishing direct scientific contacts among active scientific youth of Russia and neighboring countries.

Venue: Moscow building of MIPT, Moscow, Klimentovsky lane, 1, High Technology Center.

It is possible to participate in person or in absentia with the publication of abstracts in the collection of materials. If the participant is unable to come, one copy of the collection with printed abstracts will be sent to the author by mail after the conference.

The number of works submitted by one participant is unlimited. The number of co-authors of one work is also unlimited. Information about the scientific supervisors of the work is indicated at the end of the abstracts in a separate line.

Applications for participation in the conference and abstracts of papers are accepted by e-mail evgeniy@frtk.ru until August 19, 2011.
