International Student Exchange Program Global UGRAD

The International Research and Exchange Board (IREX) has the honor to announce a competition for participation in the International Student Exchange Program (Global UGRAD).

The International Student Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) in Eurasia and Central Asia is a program of the Department of Educational and Cultural Programs of the U.S. Department of State. The UGRAD program provides an opportunity for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students (enrolled in a 5-year or 6-year system) of full-time departments of higher education institutions from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan to study for 1 academic year without obtaining a degree from a university or college in the USA. All participants are selected on the basis of an open competition.

• Complete full-time studies at a university and college in the USA for one academic year;

• During the first semester, they will devote 20 or more hours to volunteer work in the host city in the United States;
• During the second semester, they will undergo a professional internship.

Students who are enrolled in the 1st year at the time of application will live in host families or in dormitories and study at two-year colleges. Students enrolled in the 2nd and 3rd courses at the time of application will live in dormitories and study at four-year colleges or universities.

The program provides full funding and offers:• Support in obtaining an American J-1 visa

• Payment for travel from your hometown to the host university in the USA and back
• Partial health insurance
• Tuition fees in the USA
• Payment for accommodation and meals in the USA
• Monthly scholarship
• Funds for the purchase of educational literature
• Intensive English language courses in your home country before starting the program (if necessary)
• Wide opportunities for professional growth for graduates of the program

The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the program is December 10, 2008.
