"Modern Experimental Biology at School" 2013
The winter laboratory training for biology teachers is organized by the Dynasty Foundation with the assistance of the Modern Natural Science Foundation and the laboratory of Konstantin Severinov (Institute of Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow).
In January 2013, during the winter holidays, a training for biology teachers will be held, aimed at developing experimental biology in high school.
The cycle of classes will be held on the basis of the educational and scientific center in the laboratory of Konstantin Severinov at the Institute of Gene Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
In the course of training, teachers will master the use of educational laboratory kits in microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, and get acquainted with the necessary methodological materials.
At the end of the training, participants will receive six different sets, each of which is sufficient to conduct classes with 24-36 students.
It is assumed that during the third and fourth quarters of the academic year, teachers will be able to organize classes with high school students in their schools within the framework of biological circles (or in some other forms of research work) using laboratory kits. At the end of the project, teachers participating in the program will have to tell about their impressions on the implementation of the program at the annual teachers' conference of the Dynasty Foundation (July 2013).
Travel and accommodation of the training participants are paid by the Dynasty Foundation.
The selection of participants will be completed by December 10, 2012. Professor K. V. Severinov and his staff will conduct the selection. The results will be published on the website.
