The results of the contest "Science is beautiful!"

On June 25, the closing ceremony of the scientific photography contest "Science is Beautiful!" took place in the Collegium Hall of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The competition was held on the initiative of the publication "Science and Technology of Russia" – STRF.ru with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Federal Agency for Science and Innovation, the Park-Media company, the InformNauka agency, the Union of Photo Artists of Russia and many other organizations.

The winners of the contest in all categories were announced at the award ceremony.

The winners in the most popular nomination "The world hidden from our eyes" are recognized:

Alexey Lomakin, PhD student of the Faculty of Bioengineering and Bioinformatics of Moscow State University (series of works "The Cell as an architectural miracle" [a]) – 1st place;

Vladimir Oleshko, Associate Professor of the Department of Laser and Light Engineering of Tomsk Polytechnic University (series "Autograph of a powerful electron beam left on the surface of a brass anode of a high-current electron accelerator" [b]) – 2nd place;

Elena Kiseleva, Leading researcher at the Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS (series "The Magic world of the cell" [c]) – 3rd place.

In the nomination "Innovation is not only a sonorous word!" the jury decided not to award the first place this year.

Anastasia Nesterova, senior researcher at the N.I. Vavilov Institute of General Genetics, with a work entitled "Manipulator" [d] was awarded as a silver medalist;

Andrey Ermolenko received a bronze medal for the photo "NanoFab100 NT-MDT" [e].

The best authors in the nomination "Science means development" are announced:

Oleg Voloshin, Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (a series of works devoted to satellite experiments for the Mars-500 project [f]) – 1st place;

Alexey Solin, Department of Human Anatomy, Kursk State Medical University (project "From simple to complex" [g]) – 2nd place;

Sergey Zemnukhov, Department of Dynamics and Strength of Machines of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (series "MiG-31 – pride of Russia" [h]) – 3rd place.

The winners of the special nominations of the competition have also been announced.

Maxim Sergeevich Nebogatikov, Ural State University, educational laboratory "Scanning probe microscopy", work "Science in Light, Ntegra spectra" won in the category "Aesthetics in iron".

Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Tsukanova, Blagoveshchensk State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Natural Geography, the work "BioTech or Allegory of the Scientific Method" won in the nomination "Multiscale World of Structures".

The winners received their well–deserved prizes and incentive gifts from the partners of the contest: the author of the work that took the first place received a cash prize of 20,000 rubles; the prize for the second place is 10,000 rubles this year, the authors of the works that took the third place were awarded special prizes. All the winners of the competition were awarded diplomas.

The partners of the competition were the Union of Scientific Journalists, the Youth Scientific and Technical Center and the Russian Union of Young Scientists.

According to the organizers of the contest, both the quality and quantity of works turned out to be even higher than could have been assumed when the contest was just conceived. Scientists are creative people, whether it concerns work or hobbies, this is evidenced by the magnificent photos sent by the contest participants.
