V.Potanin Foundation Scholarships for the 2013/14 academic year

Vladimir Potanin Scholarship Program

The Vladimir Potanin Scholarship Program continues the traditions of the Foundation's largest educational project, the Federal Scholarship Program (2000-2013), aimed at identifying and supporting the most gifted students and teachers, developing their leadership qualities and expanding opportunities for professional and personal growth.

The purpose of the program is to promote the formation of an educational environment that supports the values of knowledge, professionalism, creativity and volunteerism.

The updated Scholarship Program is a response to the society's need for quality education and the formation of a new generation of professionals.

The main activities of the program are aimed at promoting the development of the social function of education and promoting effective mechanisms for improving its quality.

The program will be attended by leading state and non-state universities. The first list of universities will be formed on the basis of the Foundation's 2012/13 academic year rating. 75 leading higher educational institutions of Russia will be included in the program.

Vladimir Potanin 's scholarship program consists of:

Scholarship competition for students of the 1st and 2nd year of full-time master's degree studying at participating universities of the Program.

In the 2013/14 academic year, the winners will be 300 master's degree students who will receive a scholarship in the amount of 15,000 rubles per month. The scholarship will be awarded from the second semester of the current academic year until the end of the master's degree.

A teaching competition for teachers conducting master's degree programs at participating universities of the Program. According to its results, up to 50 grants will be allocated. The maximum amount will be 500,000 rubles. Individual grants are allocated for:

  • development of a new master's program, including an interdisciplinary one;
  • development of a new training course within the framework of the already existing master's program, including in English;
  • converting a course to a distance learning course;
  • introduction of new teaching methods into the educational process within the framework of the disciplines being read;
  • development of special courses aimed at the formation of innovative thinking and skills for the commercialization of intellectual activity results among undergraduates;
  • development of online master's programs, courses and seminars.

The Foundation's schools, whose participants will be all the fellows and grantees of the current academic year. The School's program will focus on the formation and development of project and communication skills. It is assumed that volunteer projects in 3 categories will be developed within the framework of the School:

  • "Development of education and enlightenment";
  • "Improving management and self-government at the university";
  • "Working with the local community and socially oriented activities".

Projects that have received funding from the Fund must be implemented within a year.

The grant fund of the School is 2,000,000 rubles.
