Once again about the harmlessness of mobile phones

For 29 years, no link between brain cancer and mobile phones has been found

Experts from the University of Sydney analyzed cases of brain cancer in residents of Australia, where by law the occurrence of this disease is mandatory for registration, for the period from 1987 to 2012. It turned out that over time there was a very small increase in the number of cancer cases in men, and in women it remained constant. The work of Chapman et al. Has the incidence of brain cancer risen in Australia since the introduction of mobile phones 29 years ago? published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology.

The study used cases of 19858 men and 14222 women with brain cancer. Over the past 20 years, the number of mobile phone users has increased dramatically – in 1993, 3% of people used them, today this percentage is close to 90. At the same time, adjusted for age, the number of cases of brain cancer in people aged 20 to 84 years per 100,000 people practically did not change.

Researchers have found an increase in the number of cancer cases in people over the age of 70 – but this increase began back in 1982, when there were no mobile phones yet. It is most likely more logical to associate it with the improvement of diagnostic methods.

In principle, there is nothing surprising in the results of the study, since a cancerous tumor can be earned only from sufficiently strong ionizing radiation, while the radiation of mobile phones is too weak for this. But since the time of the use of these devices in society, disputes have not subsided about their possible harm to the body.

Since in Australia the law prescribes mandatory registration of all cases of cancer, and there is access to statistics on the use of mobile phones, the authors can argue that mobile phones do not cause brain tumors. Mobile phones appeared in the country in 1987, many people have been using them for 20 years or more, while the number of cases of tumors has not increased compared to the baseline.

So, if cell phones pose any danger to life, it's only in those cases when you forget to distract yourself from them while crossing the road.
