Sheathe your underpants with lead!

Japan produces underwear with radiation protection

Gizmonews

The company, which is engaged in the production of bathing suits, has released a new line of fashionable underwear and wetsuits. The question arises – and what is unusual here? But Yamamoto Corporation has not created ordinary underwear, but with radiation protection.

Yamamoto reported that the new underwear differs from previous versions of anti-radioactive underwear. Underwear is covered with a layer of lead, which allows you to keep harmful gamma rays from damaging the abdominal cavity and the lower part of the spine, where irreparable damage can be done. "What about all the other parts of the body?" — a reasonable question will arise. We answer.

On these, not very cute-looking underpants, a wetsuit is put on, which protects from beta rays. The suit is no longer covered with lead, otherwise it will just be extremely heavy. The purpose of the suit is to protect against any radioactive objects that are close to the body. In small doses, beta radiation is not too dangerous, but when radioactive material is in close proximity, the consequences can be very deplorable.

In order to avoid this, the suit will protect the entire body, including the arms, legs and even the head. Unlike conventional wetsuits, the Yamamoto suit will also allow you to dive under water, and even if the water is radioactive, nothing will fall under the suit. The only thing missing is a face mask.

Yamamoto Corporation will start selling its suits at the end of this month. The suit itself will cost $1,072, and lead–coated underwear will cost another $825.
