The Universal Combinator

Pavel Tishchenko-Romanchenko, NG-Religion, 06/18/2008

Rael lives in the self-created settlement of Ufoland in Quebec.

His followers wear loose white robes and practice meditation.

He is adored by the mass media and hated by representatives of absolutely all religions.

And soon he is going to build a take-off pad in Jerusalem for meeting aliens.

Someone naively considers him a psycho, someone a calculating conman. But someone believes that he is a prophet, and the number of such people around the world is steadily growing.

Rael's real name is Claude Vorillon. He was born in 1946 in Vichy (France). Since childhood, the child was not distinguished by diligence, but had a huge penchant for adventures. And, despite the fact that Claude studied badly at school, even then he set himself one single goal – to achieve success in life at all costs.

In France at that time, an ambitious young man who didn't really know how to do anything had two opportunities to become famous: to become a chansonnier or a racing driver. Singing songs was easier than driving a racing car, so Vorillon decided to become a superstar of French chanson to begin with. At the age of 15, he left home and arrived in Paris, where in the period from 1966 to 1971, under the pseudonym Claude Seller, he released five records at the famous studio Disc AZ CEO, owned by the ex–husband of the French star Dalida - Lucien Morris.

Perhaps the main feature of Vorillon, which as a result will ensure his success as the creator of the sect, was sobriety. He always clearly understood the limit of his own capabilities and was looking for backup options. Cabaret was not the limit of his dreams, and Vorillon is trying to become famous for car racing, while simultaneously earning a living as a journalist. However, the racing career of a journalist develops in about the same way as the singing career. He takes part in almost all famous car races, but not only stars are missing from heaven, but even stars.

And then, as a person not only sober-minded, but also creative, Claude Vorillon decided to drop conventions and go an unconventional way. He decided to become a prophet.

The place where Claude Vorillon found his truth was the crater of the French volcano Pi de Lasolas. According to the followers of Vorillon, it was there on December 13, 1973 that their teacher had a significant meeting with a representative of an extraterrestrial civilization. The humanoid opened Vorillon's eyes to the origin of the human species and explained in detail what and how this species needs to do next. In order not to be unfounded, an alien guest invited Vorillon to a flying saucer and showed him his own planet. Of course, after that, all doubts disappeared from the incredulous French journalist.

Over the next year, Vorillon takes the name Rael and publishes a book, "A Message Transmitted by Aliens," in which he "simply retells" what was communicated to him by a Higher Intelligence. By the end of 1974, a group of 170 people rallied around the newly-revealed prophet, which later became the core of the Raelite movement.

According to Rael, humanity is nothing but the product of scientific research by alien beings who call themselves elohim. There are indications of this in all the sacred books, which people, due to their lack of intelligence, are not able to read "correctly". Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad and, as it is not difficult to guess, Rael himself are prophets who are clones of the Elohim themselves, and, accordingly, brothers. The Elohim first visited earth 25,000 years ago, but by about 2035 A.D. they will return to establish a new harmonious world order. The main task of Rael himself is to prepare humanity for this meeting and provide the aliens with a decent welcome.

According to Rael, the current imperfect society can exist only by pursuing a policy of total intolerance. First of all, representatives of traditional religions are engaged in this. The priests have perverted the Truth transmitted by the Elohim to the other "brothers" of Rael – the prophets, they have replaced it with the "doctrine of reproduction", the sole purpose of which is to maintain their own power.

Vorillon openly promotes everything that traditional religions condemn and prohibit. He is a consistent supporter of abortion, same–sex love, euthanasia and genetically modified vegetables. He calls for the creation of the United States of Africa, and his supporters, with a huge gathering of journalists, hold loud actions, handing out condoms to schoolchildren and urging them to refuse baptism. All these actions, despite the obviously commercial approach, create the image of Rael as a truly free-thinking person, an irreconcilable fighter against dogmatism and inertia.

Constant participation in the most famous TV shows, thousands of fans around the world, wealth. Another "prophet" would have had more than enough. But professional journalist Claude Vorillon understands perfectly well: in order to maintain mass interest, it is necessary to jump over your head every time. If not his own, then at least all the other colleagues in the sectarian craft.

In 1997, Rael announces the creation of the Clonaid Corporation, whose goal is human cloning. And already in 2002, the day after Christmas, the head of the corporation Brigitte Bossalier informs the press about the successful cloning of the girl Eva. Despite the fact that no one has seen Eve so far, the popularity and income of the sect are increasing dramatically.

It is in the laboratories of the Clonaid corporation in the near future that Rael, with the direct support of the elohim, is going to create those who, in his opinion, should rule the world – geniuses. According to the sect, there are already more than 2,000 such "geniuses" in the queue who want to create their own clones (200 thousand units apiece). To all other inhabitants of the Earth, in order to know their place, their intellectual coefficient will be indicated in their passports. However, they also have a chance. For a very reasonable fee, anyone can send Rael a sample of their own DNA (postage is paid additionally). He promises to give it to the Elohim. DNA, of course, and not a moderate fee. He will keep a moderate fee for himself. It is necessary to build a take-off platform for something.
