Unlike standard procedures, the approach is non-invasive and hygienic. Moreover, it can be applied even to deceased people.

The methodology developed in The University of East Anglia analyzes the traces of sweat left in the fingerprint and in just ten minutes reveals the use of four classes of drugs: amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine and opiates. The technology is already being used by forensic medical experts and specialists from drug rehabilitation centers.

The study, which is described in the press release of the University of East Anglia Fingerprint drug screen test works on the living and deceived, confirmed the effectiveness of the system.

Comparing the results of the fingerprint test with laboratory tests of blood and urine for drugs, scientists were convinced of the high accuracy of the new approach.

The authors of the new test note that it allows criminologists to quickly determine the possible cause of death. This greatly simplifies police investigations.

In 2017, researchers founded Intelligent Fingerprinting, a company that distributes technology. Currently, scientists are working on adapting the technique for use in airports and prisons.

Australian scientists are also creating technologies that simplify the work of investigators. They have developed a special dye that binds to DNA and allows you to detect even small amounts of genetic material. In addition, the test indicates who was the last to touch objects at the crime scene. This allows you to narrow down the circle of suspects.
