GoBe: Russian "smart bracelet" – on sale soon

The HealBe GoBe fitness bracelet has finally gone public

Geektimes

The Russian startup HealBe has long promised to release a fitness tracker HealBe GoBe, which can measure not only steps, pulse, but also blood pressure, as well as the calorie content of foods eaten by the owner.

Yes, exactly – not the number of calories burned (although this is also), but the number of calories that have entered the body. At the same time, it was even promised to show the percentage of fats, proteins and carbohydrates. The release date of the bracelet was postponed several times, and the startup was generally suspected of fraud. As it turned out, it was completely in vain: the other day, one such fitness tracker, a very real and workable device, arrived at the Medgadgets office.

Now the device is undergoing the final run-in (on tested samples), and in a couple of weeks HealBe GoBe will be on sale. The current review is the first part of the tracker description, with a demonstration of its appearance and a description of its functions. Testing is the second part of the review, this part is posted here.

What is HealBe GoBe?

Externally, the device differs from any of the presented trackers. The front panel is slightly curved, and looks more like a speaker. Interestingly, the design of the device was developed by the Italian designer Josef Frakis, who previously worked on the Motorola RAZR.

The "speaker" is a small display of the original type, which can show the time consumed and calories burned. Unfortunately, there was no time to test the display, we worked mainly with a mobile application. A little later, photos of the working display will be posted.

This video was shot back when many doubted the reality of the device's release (May 2014).

HealBe GoBe Functions

  • Sleep Quality Detector;
  • Heart rate monitor;
  • Pressure sensor;
  • Blood sugar sensor (direct data is not shown, but is used to calculate the caloric content of consumed foods);
  • Pedometer;
  • Hydration sensor (shows how much water the body needs);
  • The sensor of the distance traveled.

The caloric content of products is measured using a technology patented by the manufacturer of the company, which is called Flow Technology. Previously, tests were conducted that showed the adequacy of measurements. Medgadgets also took a couple of measurements yesterday (by eating a bar with a known calorie content and the ratio of carbohydrates, fats and proteins).

In principle, testing the tracker's capabilities showed that all the declared functions are relevant. Later, a second version of the tests, much more expanded, will be published on Geektimes. Now we just tried out the gadget in operation, making sure it works.

So far, there are some inaccuracies that are caused, firstly, by the desire to check everything quickly without reading the instructions, and secondly, a couple of small problems have been found with the mobile application, but they will be fixed by releasing an update in two or three days.

All data from HealBe GoBe is transmitted via Bluetooth to a mobile application on a smartphone. The HealBe GoBe web service has even more advanced functionality.

When can I buy it?

The first batch of HealBe GoBe will appear in Moscow in mid-December (at least, that's what the manufacturer promises). The approximate price is about 12 thousand rubles.

This cost of the gadget is explained by its functionality. In principle, this is not even a fitness tracker, but almost a medical device that can be used to fully monitor the activity of your body and check individual indicators.
