Life. Science Version
The festival of popular science has started in Moscow
<url>The second festival of popular science, organized by the Dmitry Zimin Foundation "Dynasty", has started in Moscow.
The festival is called "Life. Version of Science", and its events, which will last until April 17, will be devoted to various aspects of life – the origin of life, evolution, new possibilities of medicine, as well as the development of artificial intelligence and robotics.
The festival will be held at three venues – the Vinzavod Center for Contemporary Art, the ARTPLAY design Center on Yauza and in the lecture hall of the Polytechnic Museum.
The exhibition-laboratory "Life. The version of science", the exhibits of which will represent the components of the cell enlarged many times with the help of computer modeling. In addition, visitors will be shown various modern methods by which scientists study living organisms. On the first of April, a concert of the Tiller Girls group of 12 robots will be held in one of the exhibition pavilions.
On March 25, the ARTPLAY Design Center will host a performance of the AHE engineering theater from St. Petersburg called "Depot of Ingenious Delusions". The performance consists of installations representing the history of ten scientific hypotheses that were considered true for a long time, but were later refuted.
Lectures by specialists in various fields of science will be held at the Polytechnic Museum and at the Winery. On March 26, at 17:00, Leonard Mlodinov, a string theory specialist and co-author of two books by Stephen Hawking ("The Shortest History of Time" and The Grand Design), will speak to visitors (a lecture entitled "(Not) perfect randomness. How Chance governs our Lives" will be held at the Polytechnic). At 19:00 Mlodinov will meet with Hawking fans.
The remaining lectures can be thematically divided into three groups – lectures on neuroscience, lectures on artificial intelligence and robotics, and lectures on evolutionary biology and medicine.
Admission to most of the festival's events is free. A ticket to the AXE Theater performance costs 700 rubles.
