Have the dreams of those who want to lose weight come true?

An effective means for weight loss has been developed
Elvira Koshkina, CompulentaScientists from the University of Glasgow (UK) have created a drug that will help women lose two sizes in just six months.

Injections for weight loss in the form of pen syringes, which will be available for sale within three years, also lower blood pressure, raise the level of "good" cholesterol and can even prevent and treat diabetes. Plus, after such a "vaccination", a person's mood improves.

The drug is called liraglutide, in structure it is similar to a gastrointestinal hormone that helps regulate appetite. Liraglutide "fools" the brain, forcing it to form a feeling of satiety in a person when 20% less food is eaten.

To date, liraglutide has been tested on 550 obese men and women. Some of them received the drug daily, others drank either placebo pills or the popular medicine orlistat. The results of the experiment are as follows: those who took liraglutide for six months lost an average of 9.5 kg, which is twice as much as the losses of those who drank orlistat. If the participants continued to receive liraglutide for the next 18 months, their weight remained unchanged, while those who drank orlistat gained the lost kilograms.

Thus, the new drug turned out to be more than two times more effective than the weight loss products on the market. Experts believe that liraglutide, which has no side effects, can gain such popularity that there will simply be no need for other methods of getting rid of excess weight (gastric bandaging, gastric suturing, etc.). The only obstacle to the widespread dissemination of the novelty may be its price: an annual course of treatment will cost a thousand pounds (3 pounds per day).
