Coffee reduces the risk of contracting coronavirus and alleviates symptoms of the disease

Coffee reduces the risk of infection with coronavirus (COVID-19). This is the conclusion reached by Chinese scientists. The results of their study are published in BMC (BioMed Central).

It turned out that the active immune response of the body depends on the diet. The more products rich in polyphenols - the better. There should always be vegetables on the table, for example.

What about coffee? It also has polyphenols. This beverage is indeed able to prevent the penetration of SARS-CoV-2 into the body. This is due to the activity of a digestive enzyme called cathepsin L. Coffee blocks the mechanism that allows the coronavirus to penetrate the cell.

Scientists remind that coffee also contains chlorogenic acid (CGA), which can reduce the intensity of inflammatory processes, as well as caffeine, which stimulates the immune system.
