Online Pharmacies: How to avoid side effects (2)

Tablets with home delivery
Alexey Vodovozov, ABC magazine

We continue shopping in the online pharmacy, started in the article "Tablets from the Network". Let's move on to the practical part.

Studying the siteSo, we sifted out frankly quack resources and selected those that are really online pharmacies (well, or very similar to them).

It should be said right away that there are no general requirements for the design of such sites — simply because, due to legal conflicts, the "online pharmacies" themselves do not exist. But organizations that have nothing to hide will post maximum information about themselves and their products on their web pages.

So first of all, we go to the "About us" or "About the project" section and study the information: full name, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail, copies of permits. The more written, the better.

Then we evaluate what we can learn about a particular drug before purchasing it. It is desirable that the page contains:

  • large photo of the package from several angles
  • commercial name of the drug (trademark)
  • international nonproprietary name (INN)
  • full composition, including excipients, indication of potentially dangerous ingredients
  • full list of contraindications
  • detailed instructions for use
  • possible side effects
  • information on how to store the drug correctly
  • name and contact details of the manufacturer

If everything suits you at this stage, we proceed directly to the purchase procedure.

We count, check, payThe main convenience, because of which we started this whole epic, is the delivery of purchases to your home.

But, firstly, not everyone does it for free, and secondly, there are restrictions on time, days of the week, and districts of the city. It may turn out that the cost of delivery is comparable to the price of the medicine, or even more than it.

It is usually possible to pay with a credit card and electronic money, but more often they pay with good old cash.

Do not rush to give money to the courier. As soon as the goods are exchanged for banknotes, it will be impossible to reverse. Medicines belong to goods that are not subject to return-exchange.

Inspect the packaging. Make sure she's safe and sound. Remove the bottle, tube or tablet plates from it, check the integrity again. Find the instructions for the drug. All information — from the box to the last sheet inside — must be in Russian.

Check the production date and expiration date. Both outside and inside the numbers must match. If the expiration date expires, it is not so critical — the main thing is that it ends later than the course assigned to you. At least for one day — this is already quite enough, since medicines usually have a significant "margin of safety".

After payment, you are required to hand out a receipt with the name of the company, its address and TIN, date and time, the number of the cash register, the exact indication of the goods and its amount. You can also request a copy of the quality certificate for this drug — this is your right.

A little advice from practice: it is better to prepare the exact amount in advance. The courier is not a cashier, the availability of change is not guaranteed.
