Scientists have named one of the main dangers of sleep deprivation

American doctors have found that systematic lack of sleep increases the likelihood of death from stroke in people suffering from diabetes mellitus and diseases of the cardiovascular system. The results of the study can be found on the website of the American Heart Association (Too little sleep may raise the risk of death in people with cluster of heart disease risk factors).

Experts recommend that they sleep at least six hours a day. Otherwise, according to the researchers, the probability of death due to stroke is twice as high as in healthy people who take more than six hours of sleep a day.

Doctors came to such conclusions by observing randomly selected 1,344 men and women, among whom a risk group was identified. It included people with a high body mass index, elevated cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The research was carried out for 16 years.
