What does the strong half of humanity lose along with the extra pounds

Recent studies have shown that men are increasingly going on diets. They tend to throw off the excess. Kilograms, I mean. Already almost 30 percent of the male representatives limit themselves in one way or another in food.

But the reasons, unlike women, are called respectful. Ladies mostly want to find a slim waist. And the stronger sex goes on diets for health. Some do not even want to lose weight, but dream of just building up: muscles and sexual attractiveness. And here a huge number of people joyfully rush to meet them.

The Internet is full of sites dedicated to men's health. Various trainers and local gurus give advice, develop individual diets. And they often bring men to the complete loss of what they so passionately desired: health and masculine strength.

We have selected for you the most common diets that are dangerous for men. And we want to warn instead of the Ministry of Health: Attention! Very often, various manipulators come up with their own names for these diets or slightly modify them: for example, they introduce one day a week when everything is allowed, or add some products from another list.

Don't buy it. Carefully look at what these diets are based on. And remember: before switching to a diet with a serious change in the diet (except for one thing: eat less!), you should consult with your therapist. Each of them has serious contraindications for certain diseases.

The most dangerous diets:

1. The carb-free diet, aka the Atkins diet, aka the Kremlin, aka…

It was with her that the British Association of Nutritionists opened the list of the most harmful diets, declaring that it contradicts the rules of healthy eating.

It is very popular with men, because it allows them to eat meat they love so much, and prohibits usually unloved vegetables and sweets. Even alcohol on this diet is allowed in moderation.

Such a diet (and even together with dietary supplements, about which there is a special conversation) like to recommend fitness trainers to increase muscle mass.

Don't listen to the coaches. They are not doctors, and they think the least about your health.

Principle: Foods containing carbohydrates are removed from the diet or severely restricted: cereals, vegetables, fruits, bakery products. It is offered exclusively protein food: meat, poultry, fish, eggs, legumes.

What is attractive: You can lose weight quickly enough without experiencing the cruel pangs of hunger.

What's wrong with that: To begin with, let's agree: the one who created man knew better what his nutrition should consist of. If one protein were needed, we could very well become exclusively predators. But our omnivorous organism is designed so that all three components: proteins, fats, carbohydrates – are equally important for health. The exclusion of any of them leads to the failure of the entire system. Here's what happens when there is an overabundance of protein:

– cholesterol in the blood rises, which increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases. And men are already more likely than women to suffer from strokes and heart attacks. Anyone who already has a history of vascular and heart diseases, a protein diet is deadly. In the USA, this diet is called "straight to a heart attack." There are other dangers:

– serious problems with the gastrointestinal tract begin. To digest food, the body needs fiber, and without it, constipation, gastritis appear. Due to the fact that carbohydrates do not reach the intestines, beneficial bacteria die and dysbiosis develops. And this is a very unpleasant thing: the state of health worsens, weakness, nausea appear, the stool gets upset. And then ketoacedosis occurs – a violation of carbohydrate metabolism. Its direct sign is attention! – is the smell of acetone from the mouth. And if you feel it at yourself, immediately stop mocking the body, and best of all, go to the doctor.

– kidney and liver diseases develop, as the level of urea in the blood increases, salts accumulate. And if you have problems in this area – forget about the protein diet as a nightmare.

– lack of glucose causes the brain to starve, which leads to a decrease in memory, attention, slows down thought processes.

What is dangerous for men: Scientists from The University of South Carolina found that too frequent consumption of fried red meat worsens sperm motility. This reduces the possibility of conceiving a child. Also, a meat diet can cause problems with erection and contributes to the development of prostate diseases.

And more. Today, with the industrial cultivation of animals, a large amount of hormones are added to their food for rapid weight gain. With an increased diet of meat, your hormonal background can change dramatically. Suddenly, not muscles will begin to grow, but breasts?

In short, nutritionists all over the world categorically do not recommend sticking to a protein diet in all its forms.

2. Vegetarian diet

As a rule, it is recommended to men by yoga coaches, as well as wives or girlfriends already on such a diet.

We will not talk here about cases where vegetarianism is a way of life by conviction. This is everyone's right. But if you decide to go on such a diet solely for the sake of health and not on the instructions of doctors, think seriously. Doctors do not recommend such diets for a long time to men.

Principle: prohibited: meat, fish, in some cases – all products of animal origin: eggs, milk, cottage cheese, honey. Adherents of such a strict diet are called vegans, everyone else is just vegetarians. Vegetables and fruits are allowed.

What is attractive: First of all, it's beautiful: to say in the company "I don't eat meat of slaughtered animals." Secondly, it is fashionable. There are a lot of celebrities with whom you will find yourself in the same vegetarian company. Thirdly, you can lose weight on this diet and even feel better for a while.

What's wrong with this: Myths about the longevity of vegetarians have long been debunked by scientists. Moreover, it turned out that the mortality rate of vegans is significantly higher than that of ordinary citizens. Recently, as a result of an experiment, Austrian scientists proved that vegetarians are more likely than supporters of conventional nutrition to be susceptible to heart attacks, allergies, asthma, diabetes, osteoporosis. And they are also much more likely to have mental and oncological diseases. There are reasons for this.

Meat, if eaten in reasonable quantities, contains essential nutrients: about 35 percent of protein compounds. The cell is built from them. In addition, protein elements are necessary for metabolism, hormone synthesis, hematopoiesis. Soy and legumes cannot completely replace meat, since vegetable protein is absorbed much worse and it lacks some vitamins, for example, B12, necessary for brain function. Its deficiency leads vegans to mental disorders, and the complete absence of animal fats provokes stagnation of bile and liver disease.

What is dangerous for men: Vegetarians have reduced testosterone production from a lack of fat, which reduces sexual potency. The lack of zinc in young men interferes with normal puberty and reduces the synthesis of sex hormones, which is why sexual desire occurs less often, and erection lasts for a short time. On the one hand, there are no desires, and there are no problems with their implementation. But on the other hand – do you need it?

The lack of vitamins A, D, and group B, which are contained in meat products, also has a bad effect on potency. Moreover, scientists have found out that vegetarians produce 20 million fewer sperm per day than adherents of a regular diet. No, you can, of course, somehow manage with the remaining 70 million, but they move much slower than the control group of subjects. So doctors warn: if you plan to have a baby, jump off the vegetarian diet 80 days before.

And more. Soy, which acts as a meat substitute for vegetarians, contains phytoestrogens similar to female extragens. So, you understand…

3. Mono diets

There are a huge number of them and an increasing number of people succumb to the temptation to lose weight quickly on some one favorite product. This type of diet is often advertised by Hollywood stars, telling stories of how they instantly lost weight and feel great. Don't believe it. First of all, you'll never know what they actually eat. And how they look. After all, they have makeup and Photoshop at their service.

Principle: food consists of one or a group of similar products. For example, chocolate, banana, rice, kefir, cottage cheese, buckwheat, watermelon, cabbage mono-diets are very popular.

What is attractive about: It gives a quick effect, the kilograms are rapidly disappearing, and this gives a feeling of a quick victory over yourself.

What's wrong with this: After the end of the diet, the weight returns. And even with a greater speed than he left. And in excess.

Actually, there is nothing dangerous in mono-diets if you sit on them for 1 to 3 days. The body just has time to rest and lose a little extra fat. If you sit on them longer, health problems are guaranteed. And here's why:

– no product contains proteins, fats, carbohydrates equally, and we have already realized that we all need them. As a result, depending on the chosen product, a person begins to have all the problems that occur with their lack (see previous diets):

– all mono-diets are low in calories, which is why weight is lost so quickly. But the metabolism slows down, and the body goes into economy mode: it is panic-stocked with useful substances. He suspects that you decided to starve him to death. And when you return to normal nutrition, he will not believe you, and will continue to save. Well, is that what you do after defaults? That is why it is difficult to completely jump off such diets, and sticking to them for a long time is harmful.

– each diet, in addition to the general harm, is also dangerous in its own way. Cottage cheese, for example, overloads the body with protein, watermelon makes the kidneys work in the mode of driven horses, chocolate and coffee in general can bring you to hypoglycemic fainting and coma, apple – to anemia and hematopoiesis, carrot – to liver diseases up to dietary hepatitis, rice – to severe constipation, hemorrhoids, kefir is categorically contraindicated to people with increased acidity.

What is dangerous for men: Men need more calories to live than women. And their sharp decrease leads to a panic of the male body: as a result, they gain weight faster after a mono diet. Moreover, rapid weight loss with mono-diets is not only due to fat, but also due to muscle. There is a chance to turn into a slim squishy. Well, depriving the body of two-thirds of useful substances affects the potency, frankly speaking, not well. It's better not to check.

4. Salt-free (or sugar-free) diet

Do you remember the heroine of the actress Gurchenko from the movie "Love and doves"? She fought with "sweet poison and "white poison" (salt), so hard that the cavalier fled from her in horror. And rightly so. There was nothing good for him, devoid of sugar and salt, there was not expected.

Principle: salt or sugar are completely or partially excluded.

What is attractive: the weight decreases, the person is proud that he eats tasteless, but correctly.

What's wrong with that: For many centuries, salt has been valued more than gold. Not because the people of antiquity were so wild. They just knew that without salt, a person dies quickly.

In recent years, the fight against salt has been launched, but now nutritionists around the world have given a full back. Yes, excess salt and sugar harm us. But to completely exclude them from the diet is to put yourself in serious danger. Salt as a chemical compound consists of sodium and chlorine, which are vital to us.

They are the main component of blood plasma and lymph, deliver nutrient compounds to cells, without them the work of neurons, regulation of blood pressure, movement of muscles, including cardiac ones, is impossible. Scientists have found that people whose diet contains less than three grams of salt a day are more likely to die from heart attacks, strokes and other diseases than those who eat normal food. A sharp restriction of salt is shown only to hypertensive patients, but even there we are not talking about the complete exclusion of this product.

What is dangerous for men: Especially this already harmful diet threatens men who exercise intensively and drink a lot of water at the same time. They may develop hyponatremia, a life–threatening condition. Nausea, vomiting, seizures, convulsions, urinary incontinence... why do you need all this?

Doctors believe that a healthy person can afford not to monitor the salt content in food and salt everything to taste.

By the way, completely giving up all sweets is also harmful.

5. Diet by blood type

It was invented by an American doctor Peter d'Adamo. And since then, in various modifications, this diet has been walking around countries and continents. Now a new round has begun: foreign laboratories offer you to donate blood, and not only by group, but by analyzing food allergens to determine which products are useful and harmful to you.

Principle: the type of nutrition depends on who your distant ancestors were. Owners of the first blood group (hunters) – meat-eaters, the second (farmers) – vegetarians, the third (nomads) – omnivores, the fourth (riddle) – they consume different exotics – seafood, tofu.

What is attractive about: By switching to a thoughtful diet and limiting fatty, fried, smoked foods, you can bring the weight back to normal. After all, you will control what you eat all the time, and this works by itself. In addition, a smart doctor forbade representatives of all blood groups to eat too high-calorie and harmful foods.

What's wrong with that: Doctors categorically refute the influence of blood type on the type of human nutrition. No scientific research has proven this. Therefore, artificially transferring people to an increased consumption of meat or fiber means risking their health, unreasonably impoverishing the diet.

Unfortunately, there are no food allergens that can show which is more useful for you personally: rabbit or beef, champagne or beer. This is a hoax. Even a proven one. One volunteer once passed a blood test in the laboratory with a difference of a week. And not a single product matched!

What is dangerous for men: Firstly, this is a serious danger to the wallet: firms engaged in the selection of individual diets by blood, as a rule, charge expensive. Secondly, it is dangerous for the image: surely there are already people in your circle who know that this diet is a scam. And you will look like... well, a person who is too trusting. Thirdly, yes, it's just a shame: all my life I haven't eaten, for example, my favorite chicken, just because it was she who popped up on the computer in the list of products for clever businessmen.

Total: Today, doctors are increasingly saying that diets are needed for people suffering from certain diseases. And those who want to lose weight do not need diets, but a proper diet. What it should be, we'll talk next time.
