A Russian-made robot surgeon?

The Russian Federation will create the first domestic robot for surgical operations

Russia will create a domestic robot for surgery, the development of which will take four years.

The project is being implemented at the Institute of Design and Technological Informatics of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Currently, there are 20 US-made robot surgeons working in Russia. Joystick-controlled installations are located in clinics in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Khanty-Mansiysk and on the Far Eastern Russian Island.

Meanwhile, Russian surgeons estimate their need for robots to perform operations in 500 installations, 2-3 in each region. This figure was announced by the chief urologist of the Ministry of Health Dmitry Pushkar.

The use of such installations simplifies the course of the operation and reduces the likelihood of complications after it. At the same time, the time spent in the hospital is reduced by four times, since centimeter incisions heal after three days.
