Special attaches for innovation will soon appear in Russian embassies abroad.

On behalf of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian Foreign Ministry will create a network to attract foreign scientists and technologies, as well as promote Russian innovations in foreign markets, Kommersant reports.

The Technology search and attraction network will be created in the interests of modernization and technological development of the Russian economy.

Dmitry Medvedev gave this order at a meeting of the Modernization Commission. The Head of State set the task to increase the "import of intellectual capabilities from abroad" and promote Russian technologies in foreign markets. In order to achieve these goals, the Russian Foreign Ministry proposed to attach specially trained innovation attaches to leading embassies and representative offices at international organizations, who will search for foreign technologies for implementation in Russia and promote Russian developments in foreign markets. According to the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the network will be fully established by 2012.

"As a Russian company that develops products in the field of information technology and actively develops scientific and technical cooperation with foreign companies, we support the idea of creating a centralized and unified network for the exchange of innovations in Russian embassies," experts of the NGO RIK-Sistema comment. "This step will facilitate the entry of Russian companies into foreign markets, will allow to intensify innovation exchange, establish a constructive dialogue with foreign technology developers and broadcast their experience in Russia, organize a presentation of Russian innovations abroad."
