Biotechnology-2020
The government has approved a program for the development of biotechnologies of the Russian Federation until 2020.
One of the goals of the program is Russia's entry into a leading position in the field of biotechnology, and the creation of a globally competitive bioeconomics sector, which, along with the nanoindustry and information technologies, should become the basis for the modernization of the Russian economy.
The program should be implemented in two stages, in 2012-2015 and 2016-2020, and will require a total of 1.18 trillion rubles.
Of these, 367 billion rubles will be required to support the bioenergy sector, 210 billion rubles for industrial biotechnology, 200 billion rubles for agricultural and food biotechnology, 150 billion rubles for biomedicine, 106 billion rubles for biopharmaceuticals, 70 million rubles for marine biotechnology, 45 billion rubles for forest biotechnology, environmental (ecological) biotechnology – 30 billion rubles.
The expected results of its implementation will be an increase of 8.3 times in the volume of biotechnological products in the Russian Federation, an increase in the production of biotechnological products in the Russian Federation by 33 times, a reduction in the share of imports in the consumption of biotechnological products by half, an increase in the share of exports in the production of biotechnological products by 25 times.
It is planned that the level of production of biotechnological products by 2020 will be about 1% of GDP, it is planned to create conditions for the biotechnological sector to reach production volumes of at least 3% of GDP by 2030.
