Doctors warned about the connection of sports, anger and heart attack

Scientists from Canada's McMaster University have found that exercise, like emotional stress, increases the risk of heart attack.

Researchers interviewed more than 12,000 patients from 52 countries who were hospitalized due to acute myocardial infarction. Scientists were interested in what the patients were doing and in what condition they were in an hour before and during a heart attack. As it turned out, 13% of respondents before a heart attack were engaged in physical exercises, and 14% were angry or upset.

According to scientists, the results suggest that physical exercise and emotional stress are definitely associated with the occurrence of acute myocardial infarction and may be its external cause. According to the researchers, previous treatment for cardiovascular diseases and taking medications did not affect the relationship of physical and emotional stress with acute myocardial infarction.

The study was published in the journal Circulation (Smyth et al., Physical Activity and Anger or Emotional Upset as Triggers of Acute Myocardial Infarction).
