Dual-use restrictions

The introduction of Germany's restrictions on exports to Russia of laboratory test systems

The Rosselkhoznadzor (for some reason delayed for 3 weeks – VM) reports that from April 1 this year, the Federal office of Economics and export control of Germany (BAFA) to exclude Russia from the list of countries with the privileges of the imports from Germany of dual-use goods, which the Agency considers, in particular, the test system RIDASCREEN® and SureFood®.

In this regard, the Rosselkhoznadzor considers it useful to explain that Ridascreen enzyme immunoassay test systems are designed to detect residual concentrations of harmful substances in food raw materials and finished products, as well as in animal feed, and SureFood polymerase chain reaction test systems are used to detect GMOs, allergens, pathogens, as well as to identify the species of tissue DNA plants and animals.

These and similar test systems are actively used by the Rosselkhoznadzor to identify dangerous and adulterated food products, including those imported, including from Germany.

At the same time, the introduction by the German authorities of restrictions on the supply of laboratory test systems for analyzing the safety of food products issued for dual-use goods will not affect the effectiveness of the Rosselkhoznadzor's monitoring of food products for safety due to the introduction of similar domestic techniques developed in its research centers.
