Free screening for breast, ovarian and prostate cancer can be done from 8:00 to 14:00 on March 17 at polyclinic No. 201 in the 9th microdistrict. And on election day, March 18, from 8:00 to 14:00 – at school No. 1692 in building 1017. You can wait three months for the results.

All those who came (adults) will have blood taken from a vein. Breast and ovarian cancer in women and prostate cancer in men are among the most common oncological diseases, explains the action of the Department of Health. At the same time, screening reveals not the cancer itself, but the presence of a predisposition to it. So, a blood test is taken for the presence of mutations of the genes BRCA1 and BRCA2 (from the English BReast CAncer – breast cancer) and PSA (PSA) – prostate specific antigen, an elevated level of which indicates the likely development of prostate cancer.

Such screening contributes to the detection of the disease at an early stage, and therefore to a high probability of cure, Depzdrav notes. To pass the analysis, you need a passport, the patient will be asked to leave their data for feedback. The results will be sent by e-mail or (optionally) to the polyclinic at the place of attachment. The time of the study can take up to three months. The blood tubes will be stored in the freezers of the Moscow Blood Transfusion Station and delivered in batches to the laboratories. Not all doctors support screening as an effective measure for the detection of cancer. "With regard to both methods, there is no evidence that suggests the benefits of their use for cancer screening," says Ilya Fomintsev, director of the Cancer Prevention Foundation, oncologist. – There is not a single population screening program based on these methods in the world. I'm not saying that the DOG is already included in the medical examination due to a misunderstanding."

Fomintsev says that cancer markers do not detect cancer and do not give an answer to the question whether there is a tumor. They are sometimes used only to monitor the effectiveness of cancer treatment – even when it is detected. There are too many false negative or false positive responses for the tests that the Department of Health is going to apply. In his interviews, the doctor emphasizes that in cases of false positive screening results, people can have completely unnecessary operations, which leads to complications, and sometimes to death.
