"Female Viagra" – on sale soon!

At the conference of the European Society of Sexual Medicine held in Lyon (France), representatives of the German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim reported on the successful completion of phase III clinical trials of "female viagra".

The drug Flibanserin (Flibanserin) was developed as an antidepressant, but it turned out to be ineffective in this capacity. But he had an unintended effect: an increase in sexual desire and the brightness of sexual sensations in women. This did not come as a big surprise: the fact that the drug increases libido, the researchers noticed at the stage of preclinical tests on experimental animals. Of course, there was no shortage of people willing to take part in the inspection.

A total of 1,378 women with reduced sexual desire (politically correct and scientifically – Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, HSDD), who received 100 mg of the drug or placebo daily for six months, participated in the phase III studies. In women from the experimental group, the number of "satisfying sexual events" (SSE) by the end of the follow–up increased much more than in those who received a pacifier: the average number of "SSE" per week increased from 2.8 and 2.7 before taking the drug to 4.5 respectively in the experimental group and 3.7 in the control group.

According to rumors, Flibanserin is scheduled to enter the market in mid-2011.
