Umbilical cord blood from Samara delivered to England

Ministry of Health of the Samara region

The Anthony Nolan National Registry of Great Britain has applied to the BMDW (Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide) international donor database in order to select a donor or cord blood sample for a patient with multiple myeloma who is being treated at Manchester Royal Infirmary. A sample of umbilical cord blood suitable for the patient was found in the Samara cord blood bank of the Samara regional medical Center "Dynasty".

The medical center "Dynasty" is a leader in the Russian Federation in the field of cryopreservation and the use of cord blood cells.

The Center is the first Russian bank to have passed international accreditation and entered the BMDW international register.

After carrying out the necessary research, with the support of NP "Register of Donors", a unit of cord blood was transferred to the UK. Specialists of the hospital in Manchester reported the successful receipt of the sample in complete safety. Currently, the patient has been prescribed chemotherapy, after which he will be transplanted with hematopoietic cells from the Samara cord blood bank of the Dynasty medical Center.

Umbilical cord blood cells from the Samara bank have been used since 2010 for successful transplants in leading Russian and foreign medical centers in Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Belarus, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Great Britain, Holland, Israel, Canada, South Africa, Poland and others.
