Fymyshata

Mice settled at the FMSH hostel

Another attraction has appeared on the campus: a monument has been erected next to the Physics and Mathematics School of Novosibirsk State University, the press service of the NSU reports.

The porch of the dormitory is now decorated with three iron mice with glasses, a telescope, a book and a bicycle. According to the old tradition, FMSH students are called "fymyshats" or simply "mice", so these animals have long become a symbol of the educational institution.

The monument with a height of about 160 centimeters was created according to a collective sketch of the staff of the Specialized Scientific and Educational Center (SUNC NSU) and has nothing to do with the monument of a laboratory mouse knitting a DNA thread, which was installed in July of this year at the Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS.

"It seemed to me that crumpled wheels are funny, riding such a bike is certainly an interesting adventure! Hopefully, students will start smiling more often," said Svetlana Pashchenko, a psychologist at the SUNC, who came up with a sketch of the original bike stand.

"It's very nice that we have such an original parking lot," said Maria, a student at the FMSH, "now you come out of the dorm and see not just bare walls, but very cute mice that cheer you up!"

Despite the fact that the monument appeared quite recently, the noses of the mice shine – apparently, new traditions have already begun to form.
