Russian universities have entered the top 3 best universities in Eastern Europe

Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University and Novosibirsk State University took the first three places in the list of the best higher education institutions in Eastern Europe, which was compiled by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds.

There are 350 universities in the ranking, including 105 Russian ones. Tomsk State University, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Higher School of Economics were also in the top 20. They took the eighth, eleventh and seventeenth place respectively.

Quacquarelli Symonds made the rating for the sixth time. In 2018, MSU and NSU were in first and second places, and St. Petersburg State University shared the third place with Charles University in the Czech Republic.

In September of this year, 13 Russian universities were included in the top 500 best for the employment of graduates of educational institutions according to Quacquarelli Symonds, but not a single educational institution from Russia was in the top hundred.

In 2019, MSU remained in the top 100 of the Shanghai ARWU University Ranking, taking 87th place. Three more Russian universities were included in the rating – St. Petersburg State University (St. Petersburg State University), Novosibirsk State University (NSU) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).
