FPI has created a laboratory for a breakthrough in military immunology

The Foundation for Advanced Research (FPI) has created a laboratory to identify possible areas of technological breakthroughs in military biomedicine on the basis of the Institute of Immunology, the foundation told RIA Novosti.

"In order to implement FPI projects in the field of immunology and related sciences in the interests of creating innovative technologies and military, special and dual–use products, as well as for systematic expert and analytical work on monitoring likely areas of technological breakthroughs in biomedicine, a targeted immunology search laboratory is being formed," the message says.

According to the foundation, the laboratory is being formed on the basis of the Institute of Immunology of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, a leading domestic scientific institution in the field of clinical and experimental immunology.

"The strategy of the laboratory's activities is carried out within the framework of such scientific areas as the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, immunological aspects of organ and tissue transplantation, treatment of immune–dependent diseases, tissue regeneration technologies," the foundation added.

The Advanced Research Foundation was established in 2012 to promote research and development in the interests of the country's defense and security. The activity is carried out in three main directions: chemical-biological and medical, physical-technical, informational. At the end of 2015, the National Center for the Development of Technologies and Basic Elements of Robotics was established in the structure of the FPI. The Foundation is working on more than 60 projects, more than 40 laboratories have been created for them at leading universities, research institutes and defense enterprises.
