Influenza vaccine of increased effectiveness

This year, the flu vaccine will be 60% more effective – CDC

American News

Specialists of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention note that the flu vaccine this year will be twice as effective as last year's version.

According to Joseph Bresee, chief epidemiologist at the CDC, this means that many more people will be protected from the disease and fewer resources will be needed to help those who are sick. "This season, the risk of having to go to the doctor with the flu is 60% less. This is good news that shows the importance of vaccination," said Joseph Breezy.

CDC doctors say that although the spread of influenza this winter was less active than in recent years, however, infection with the virus had increased rates throughout February. The spread will last about 15-20 weeks.

A recent report by the World Health Organization says that influenza activity, especially in the northern hemisphere, has recently increased. A surge in new cases of influenza is observed in Europe and North America. The United States, along with Canada and the rest of North America, is showing an increase in the active spread of influenza, especially influenza A (H1N1).
