"Is this the time of the mammoths?" Putin asked. Semyon Grigoriev, the head of the museum, answered this question in the affirmative, noting that this find is also the only one in the world.

In addition, the Malolyakhovsky mammoth is located in the museum. He was found on the shore of Maly Lyakhovsky Island. Soft tissues and even liquid blood were preserved on the carcass of the female mammoth. The age of the animal is 28 thousand years.

Putin was interested in the question of whether the materials found were suitable for cloning this animal: "Soft tissues have been preserved. So it can be cloned?"

The museum staff explained that there is close cooperation with scientists from South Korea in this direction.
