Moisturizers can turn even normal skin into dry

Many women have noticed the opposite effect of using moisturizers for the face and body: the more you use them, the drier the skin becomes. Because of this, such a cream often turns into an indispensable and mandatory cosmetic product to maintain the necessary balance of skin hydration.

Swedish dermatologists from Uppsala University have proved that even normal skin can turn into very dry due to moisturizers.

Tissue samples of skin areas treated with moisturizers indicated that with their long-term use, the protective barrier of the skin weakens and changes in the activity of certain genes involved, along with other functions, in the production of dermis fats. Doctors concluded that long-term use of moisturizing ingredients does not help the skin, but only harms its tissues to produce the necessary fats independently and can change the natural structure of the skin.

The study of molecular processes in the skin also showed that differences in the pH level in creams do not play any role. In addition, experts have not found a difference between mineral and vegetable oils for normal hydration and effective protection of the skin from external damage.
