Rejuvenation Experiment

Russian scientist will rejuvenate himself

Alexey Karnaukhov, a biophysicist, a leading researcher at the Institute of Cell Biophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, intends to conduct the experiment on himself. He told Izvestia about his plan.

The scientist decided to become the first person to test the rejuvenation technology on himself. Previously, the method showed positive results in the experiment with rodents. (The results of these experiments can be found in the article Karnaukhov et al. Informational Theory of Aging: The Life Extension Method Based on the Bone Marrow Transplantation, published in open access in the Journal of Biophysics – VM.)

The specialist and his colleagues managed to increase the lifespan of mice by 34%. According to the biophysicist, this proportion corresponds to about 25 years in humans.

"I generally perceive this opportunity as a huge success. The fact is that there are medical and even legal restrictions on the age of the donor – 55 years. Therefore, I don't have much time left," the biophysicist said.

The scientist's rejuvenation method is based on solving the paradox of the "ageless germ line", which was formulated by the scientist and his team several years ago. Experts believe that the main cause of aging is the accumulation of genetic damage, which is why the method involves bone marrow transplantation.

The scientist himself notes that the results obtained in the experiment with rodents can be trusted – these animals are quite close to humans in physiology.
