Rejuvenation of Russian science

In Russia, the number of young scientists has grown 1.5 times in ten years

RIA News

The number of people under the age of 39 in Russian science has grown 1.5 times over the past 10 years, said Andrei Fursenko, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation. "You know, the number of people in science has been steadily growing up to 39 years old for the last 10 years. We have grown while maintaining the total number, the number of researchers and researchers under 39 has increased by one and a half times. That is, the talk that our entire science is people of retirement age is again greatly exaggerated," he told reporters at a press conference dedicated to the launch of the third season of the Leaders of Russia contest.

Fursenko noted that everyone who is interested in it should get a chance to try himself as a manager in the field of science, but it will be very difficult for a manager who is not immersed in the field of science.

"This is a very specific area. It is specific not only because you have to understand the price of the result. This is also because you have to be perceived by those people who are your main partners – scientists. Of course, they rightly want you to understand the value of their work and the complexity of their work if you want to manage this area," Fursenko added.
