The President indicated to support young scientists

The President of Russia signed a decree "On measures to strengthen state support for young Russian scientists – candidates and Doctors of Sciences."

According to the Kremlin press service, in accordance with the Decree, 400 grants of the President of the Russian Federation are established annually on a competitive basis - for state support of scientific research of young people (up to 35 years old) Russian scientists – candidates of sciences; 60 grants annually allocated on a competitive basis by the President of the Russian Federation – for state support of scientific research of young people (under 40 years old) Russian scientists – doctors of sciences.

In addition, it is established that the grants of the President of the Russian Federation provided for in paragraph 1 of the Decree are allocated for a 2-year period for conducting scientific research:

a) candidates of sciences – in the amount of 600 thousand rubles annually, including payment for their work and the work of co-executors. The number of co-executors should include at least one young scientist, student, graduate student. The amount of remuneration of the Candidate of Sciences and his co-executors may not exceed 360 thousand rubles per year;

b) doctors of sciences – in the amount of 1 million rubles annually, including payment for their work and the work of co-executors. The number of co-executors should include at least three young scientists, students, postgraduates. The amount of remuneration of the Doctor of Sciences and his co-executors may not exceed 600 thousand rubles per year.

The total amount of budget allocations for the payment of grants from the President of the Russian Federation will be 300 million rubles in 2009 and 600 million rubles each subsequent year.

The Decree comes into force on January 1, 2009.
