Biomedicine in the "Scientific Cafe"

With the support of the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship of Moscow
a unique project in the format of the "Scientific Cafe" has been launched

Yesterday, May 29, 2012, the first event within the framework of the project "Scientific Cafe" organized by the Department of Science, Industry, Politics and Entrepreneurship of Moscow took place in the Moscow restaurant "Royal Bar".

The concept of the project "Scientific Cafe" was based on the idea of creating a discussion platform for meetings of young specialists from high-tech fields with leading scientists, politicians and entrepreneurs. The first meeting, which brought together more than 150 young specialists and leading students of Moscow universities, was devoted to the topic: "Medicine. Development of biomedicine".

The event was led by a cardiologist therapist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor of the Moscow Medical Academy. Sechenova, known as the host of the talk show "Doctors", Dmitry Napalkov. Relevant and interesting reports were made by: Head of the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Medical Information Technologies of the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Alexander Zhavoronkov; Doctor of Biological Sciences, Academician Sergey Lukyanov; Russian biochemist Alexander Gabibov; Head of laboratories of the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Gene Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences Konstantin Severinov, as well as a representative of the Novartis Group of companies in Russia, medical adviser Alexey Vigdorchik.

The participants of the meeting had the opportunity not only to listen to the lectures of the lecturers, but also to address them with questions. Moreover, Igor Yaminsky, General Director of the Center for Advanced Technologies CJSC (sponsor of the event), presented electronic gifts for the best questions.

"When talking about state support for science, they most often mean financing and equipment. Of course, without this, modern science is unlikely to be able to develop actively, but certainly it will not be able to go forward without those who are ready to give their all to this noble cause," says Alexey Komissarov, Head of the Department of Science, Industry, Politics and Entrepreneurship of Moscow, who personally attended the meeting, "we believe that our the city should know the names and faces of its best scientists."

According to the organizers and participants of the first "Scientific Cafe", the meeting turned out to be very interesting and fruitful. The main topics of future events will be technology and entrepreneurship, modern trends in the development and commercialization of science in Moscow. Topics such as "Energy conservation and ecology", "Transport and road infrastructure", "Construction. Buildings and structures".
