Completely, but not completely

A new drug for colorectal cancer has completely cured 100% of patients

A study conducted in one of the cancer centers in the USA gave unprecedented results — the drug against colorectal cancer led to complete remission in all patients who participated in the trials. Despite the fact that the group of patients was small — only 13 people — the results of the experiment are encouraging, especially considering that the participants were not subjected to either radio or chemotherapy, as well as no surgical operations.

All the patients who participated in the experiment had a rare genetic signature of the tumor — a deficiency of corrective repair (DCR), reports ZME Science. This mutation means that cells are worse at correcting errors in DNA, which increases the likelihood of developing cancer. Eight of the participants were also diagnosed with Lynch syndrome, a hereditary disease that leads to DCR. Past studies have shown that drugs like Jemperli (dostarlimap) are effective against cancers that have arisen as a result of such diseases, since they interfere with the immune system and enable the patient's body to attack the tumor.

Clinical trials have shown that the use of Jemperli has an extremely positive effect in just six months of administration.

"It's really striking that for the first time in solid tumor oncology, as far as I know, a 100 percent complete response was achieved, and we completely eliminated all conventional therapies," said Luis Diaz, head of the oncology department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, where the trials were conducted.

However, the results are still far from final. Remission is not excluded, and you should wait and make sure that the tumor does not return before making conclusions. Nevertheless, the preliminary forecasts of the researchers are very optimistic.

In the spring of this year, scientists from the United States talked about the benefits of keto molecules in preventing intestinal cancer. First, they discovered the benefits of the keto diet for cancer prevention, and then confirmed the similar therapeutic efficacy of just one keto molecule to achieve the same goals. It is quite possible that it will become part of the standard treatment and prevention of colorectal cancer.
