Study: Cannabis microdoses reduce chronic pain

Scientists compared microdoses of one of the cannabinoids with a placebo and found that the substance is really effective for preventing intense pain. Currently, doctors avoid prescribing it for the treatment of patients due to difficulties in dosage. The first study in this area showed how much gives a result without side effects.
The study by Israeli scientists was aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of two microdoses of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) for patients with chronic pain. The result was compared with placebo and concluded that microdosed THC is effective, safe and does not cause psychoactive side effects in patients with neuropathic pain and regional pain syndrome.

In the experiment, which tells New Atlas, 27 patients participated, who were divided into three groups. Participants of the first two inhaled 0.5 mg and 1 mg of THC using a Syqe inhaler, and the rest received a placebo.
The dosage of 1 mg of THC used in the study is about 5-10 times weaker than is commonly considered a low psychoactive dose of THC, the authors explained.
A significant reduction in intense pain was achieved only in the THC group, observations showed.
In addition to reducing pain, scientists have not identified any signs of cognitive impairment.
It is worth noting that the experiment studied the effect of reducing only the acute condition – one microdose of THC stabilized the patient's condition for more than 2 hours. Therefore, it is not yet possible to draw a conclusion about the safety and effectiveness of long-term microdosing of THC, the scientists stressed.
"The dosages used were very low, so their therapeutic use requires high accuracy," the researchers concluded. The use of the Syqe inhaler allows you to provide accurate dosages to achieve safe and effective anesthesia.
