The domestic hepatitis vaccine is superior to foreign analogues

A unique Russian hepatitis B vaccine will enter the world market

The Russian hepatitis B vaccine is preparing to enter the world market. The novelty has a high chance of becoming popular. After vaccination, a person can live without fear: its activity almost does not decrease over the years. In addition, the still little-studied hepatitis D virus is becoming harmless.

The first vaccination that is given to a newborn child is from hepatitis B. It is almost impossible to recover from this disease today. The problem is that the hepatitis vaccine was invented in the eighties, and became mandatory only in the nineties. Those who were born earlier, doctors strongly recommend getting vaccinated now. Moreover, the Russian hepatitis B vaccine has already proved to be the most immunogenic in the world.

"We are seeing more than two and a half thousand patients," says Larisa Gogova, internist, gastroenterologist, associate professor of the Department of Hospital Therapy at the Pirogov Medical University Research Institute. "And our vaccination has shown very high efficiency."

At the same time, the Russian vaccine protects not only from hepatitis B, but also from hepatitis D. The disease is new, poorly researched and so far incurable. Its foci have already been identified in the regions of the Amur region, the Far East, Tyva and Yakutia. The Russian specifics formed the basis for the creation of a domestic vaccine.

"This is a unique vaccine from the point of view of the ideology of its creation," says Igor Nikitin, head of the Department of Hospital Therapy at the Pirogov Medical University Research Institute. – This is a genetically engineered vaccine, which does not contain any biocomponents, biological tissues of a sick person, which were used to create vaccines before. This is an absolutely genetically engineered vaccine, based on a virus that is strictly specific and circulating on the territory of the Russian Federation."

This vaccine appeared several years ago. It was created by scientists of the company "Combiotech". It is also produced here for 5 million ampoules per year. And they can produce at least twice as much.

About 80 thousand hepatitis vaccines are produced here at the Kombiotech plant every day. There are 6 types in total: two vaccines for children, two vaccines for adults and two combined. This is a vaccination against hepatitis, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough in one ampoule. At the same time, Russian specialists were the first to produce a hepatitis B vaccine without preservatives.

12 million children in Russia will definitely not get hepatitis: they are vaccinated with the Russian vaccine. Foreign analogues are significantly inferior to it. Therefore, the Government of the Russian Federation decided in the summer of 2015: the only supplier of hepatitis vaccines should be the national immunobiological company, part of the Rostec state Corporation. "We are fully in time to complete the delivery of this vaccine to all subjects of the Russian Federation by the end of October 2015," says Nikolay Semenov, CEO of JSC National Immunobiological Company. "More than 160 healthcare institutions in the country should receive this vaccine."

The Soviet Union was once a unique supplier of smallpox vaccine. With her help, in fact, the world was able to defeat this disease. Today, the domestic flu vaccine is very much appreciated on the international market. And, obviously, the Russian hepatitis B vaccine will also soon enter the world stage.
