Bio-Asia – 2015

Dear colleagues!

We invite you to take part in the International Biotechnological Symposium "Bio-Asia – 2015", which will be held on September 15-18, 2015 in Barnaul (Altai Krai).

The purpose of the event is to discuss topical issues of biotechnology development and present scientific achievements in promising areas of medical, industrial, agricultural, food, environmental and forest biotechnology.

The symposium's mission is to present the advanced achievements of the biotechnology industry in Russia and the world, exchange experience in the development and implementation of modern methods, increase the efficiency of research in the field of biotechnology, accelerate the development of scientific developments in the real sector of the economy.

The following events are planned within the framework of the symposium:

1. EXHIBITION OF ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIELD OF BIOTECHNOLOGY (participants – scientific and educational institutions and enterprises of the Altai Territory, as well as other regions of Russia and Asian countries).

2. SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE "BIOTECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY IN THE XXI CENTURY". Topics within the designated sections:

Medical biotechnology:

• innovative biotechnologies in medicine;
• development of new medicines, modern pharmacy;
• biotechnologies in the production of dietary supplements;
• problems of assessing the quality and safety of biopharmaceuticals;
• modern methods of assessing the state of human health.

Industrial biotechnology and bioengineering:

• innovative products from renewable raw materials;
• biodegradable polymers;
• biofuels: fuel pellets;
• biopharmaceuticals;
• utilization and processing of household, industrial, medical and toxic waste by biotechnology methods.

Agricultural biotechnology: the use of biotechnology methods for the conservation of genetic resources of vegetatively propagated cultivated plants under controlled environmental conditions;

• cellular and tissue biotechnology in crop production and breeding;
• biotechnology of production of feed and therapeutic and prophylactic preparations for farm animals;
• biotechnology of agricultural products processing.

Food biotechnology: microbiological aspects of food production;

• quality of raw materials and environmental safety of finished products;
• problems of import substitution in the food industry;
• modern innovative biotechnologies in food production.
• biochemical aspects of food production.

Environmental (ecological) and forest biotechnology: application of modern biotechnology for the purposes of forest plantation management, conservation and reproduction of forest genetic resources;

• creation of biotechnological forms of trees with specified characteristics;
• biological means of forest protection;
• bioremediation;
• biotechnologies of environmentally friendly housing;
• biological collections and bioresource centers.

3. RUSSIAN-AMERICAN SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR "BIOTECHNOLOGY: MOLECULAR ASPECTS OF DIAGNOSTICS AND THERAPY OF ONCOLOGICAL DISEASES". Subject matter:

• methods of early detection of cancer;
• diagnosis of cancer recurrence;
• targeted cancer therapy;
• biomarkers;
• immunomodulators and anti-cancer vaccines;
• bioinformatics.

4. THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL YOUTH BIOTECHNOLOGY SCHOOL "RECOMBINANT ANTIBODIES AND VACCINES" WITH A COMPETITION OF WORKS BY YOUNG BIOTECHNOLOGISTS. Subject matter:

recombinant technologies;

• modern vaccines;
• antibodies;
• new generation sequencing.

5. OFFICIAL MEETINGS, PRESS CONFERENCE, VISITS TO THE ENTERPRISES OF THE REGION, EXCURSIONS TO THE ALTAI MOUNTAINS. Detailed information is available on the symposium website. 

The working languages of the symposium are Russian and English.
