Biomedical engineering and biotechnology

The All-Russian Conference "Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology" will be held in Kursk on June 7-8, 2010.

It is planned to discuss the research carried out in the following scientific areas at the conference:
1. Medical and environmental information technologies.
2. Modern directions of synthesis and analysis of biologically active compounds.
3. Modern aspects of the development and improvement of medicines and biologically active additives.
4. Biotechnological education at the present stage: problems and achievements.

The near future of medicine: an optimistic scenario

In the next 20-30 years, telemedicine and robotics in healthcare, technologies for replacing human organs with artificial ones, effective methods of treating cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, personalized medicine and gene therapy will become the most widespread. Life expectancy will reach 100-120 years. But this is not the limit.
