EurasiaBio-2010: less than a month left before the start

On April 12-15, 2010, the 2nd International Congress-Exhibition "EurasiaBio-2010" will be held in Moscow (World Trade Center). The event is the largest business forum on biotechnology in the CIS and Central-Eastern Europe. It is included in the calendar of the most important international events of the European Union and the European Federation of Biotechnology, the Federation of Asian Biotechnology Associations.

Organizers:
The Ovchinnikov Society of Biotechnologists of Russia with the support of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Union of Enterprises of the Biotechnological Industry, the National Biofuel Association.

Participants:
The event will be attended by leading experts in biotechnology, representatives of science, business, government agencies, delegations from 40 countries in Europe, Asia, North and Latin America, including most of the CIS and Baltic countries. The Forum will be attended by large delegations from the EU countries (headed by the Head of the EU Directorate for Biotechnology, M. Rute), India (headed by the Head of the Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India, Dr. Ban), the USA, China, Japan, etc. Delegations from at least 30 regions of the Russian Federation are expected to participate.

Stephen Burril, the world financial leader in the field of biotechnology, a "living legend", will deliver a plenary report "The role of biotechnology in improving the quality of life, creating a favorable social environment and in economic development: world experience" on the opening day. He is the chief executive officer of Burrill & co, the best network company in the field of biotechnology investments. The turnover of Burrill venture capital funds is more than $950 million. Mr. Burrill has dedicated his entire career to helping science-focused companies get started and support their growth in an ever-changing and rapidly changing environment.  Mr. Burrill is the founder of the Biotechnological meeting of heads of Natural science organizations (which has been successfully operating for 23 years), congresses and conferences on biotechnology in China, India, Japan, and Indiana. Prior to founding Burrill & Co in 1994, Mr. Burrill spent 28 years at Ernst & Young. One of Mr. Burrill's latest publications is "Biotech 2009 – Navigating the Sea Change".

Program:
The event includes 3 main blocks: Congress; Exhibition; Partnering (business meetings and negotiations on a pre-agreed program).

Main topics:
Discussion of opportunities for the development of the Russian bioindustry as the basis of an innovative economy, taking into account world experience, discussion of the Bioindustry Development Strategy in the Russian Federation for 2010-2020, developed by the biotechnological community for the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as presentation of regional biotechnology development programs (Tatarstan, Chuvashia, etc.).

The main directions of the Congress:1. Health and medicine, including the Scientific and Practical Conference MEDBIOTEK-5 "National Network of Biological Screening (NSBS)" with the participation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as topics such as the latest drugs, vaccines, personalized medicine, modern methods of molecular and clinical diagnostics, biomarkers, cell therapy, opportunities for cooperation and partnership pharmaceutical companies in the rapidly growing markets of Eurasian countries, etc.)

2. Energy (including the V International Congress "Fuel Bioethanol")
– theme of the year – "Biofuels from non-food raw materials";
– economic advantages of grain processing and bioethanol production business;
– biogas, biodiesel, biohydrogen – the coming breakthrough, etc.

3. Industry– new enzymes, chemical components based on renewable bio-raw materials;

– biomaterials and biopolymers from grain, fully decomposable in 60 days: commercial and environmental benefits, etc.

8. Forum "Biotechnology and Society", dedicated to the public perception of biotechnology.

9. Results of the All-Russian Competition of journalists for the best publications on the achievements of biotechnology.

10. Intensive courses in selected areas of biotechnology.
