OpenBio traditionally takes place on the territory of the Koltsovo science city, the main organizer is the Koltsovo Innovation Center with the support of the Government of the Novosibirsk Region and the Koltsovo administration.

OpenBio-2020 is an industry complex of events dedicated to the development of high–tech business and the latest scientific research in the field of life sciences.

According to the press service of OpenBio, the work of the site will begin on October 27 with a three-day conference of young scientists who will present the results of research in the areas of "Virology", "Biophysics", "Biotechnology", "Molecular Biology". The culmination of OpenBio-2020 is the business forum, which will be held on October 30. The OpenBio forum is annually attended by representatives of industry business, science, infrastructure, development institutions and authorities.

"We hope that by October the epidemiological situation in our country and in the world will improve, and we will be able to hold OpenBio 2020 in the usual offline format. But we take into account the situation in the world and therefore the topic of online is on the agenda. We are already working on new formats and discussing with international partners and guests the possibility of online participation," said Yulia Linyushina, head of OpenBio.

Current global trends will be discussed at OpenBio 2020. An important part of the forum will be the international session on virology. Virologists and epidemiologists from Russia, America and other countries will gather at the site.

One of the main topics of OpenBio is the protection of intellectual property in the field of biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals. Experts will pay special attention to intellectual property in investment transactions.

As part of the section "Pharmaceutical Treatment: a new era of the pharmaceutical industry", an open dialogue with Roszdravnadzor of the Russian Federation is planned, where the results of the Pharma 2020 strategy will be summed up, and industry experts will be able to express their expectations from the regulatory environment.

Every year, Megascience infrastructure is discussed at OpenBio. OpenBio-2020 will once again gather experts who will share the main news about the construction of SKIF. Another topic for discussion will be one of the flagship projects within the framework of the national project "Science" – the centers of genetic technologies, which will operate on the basis of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS and the World Bank "Vector".

There will be an expert session "Life Technologies" dedicated to active longevity, aging biology, anti-aging medicine and life science trends. In 2019, this session became the longest and interested many participants of the forum.

The Forum expands the investment agenda. The government of the Novosibirsk Region has offered to host the Siberian Venture Fair at the OpenBio site. This integration will enhance the attractiveness of the OpenBio eco-system for third-party investors. After pitching the projects, RAVI will issue an expert opinion on the most promising innovative developments.

"According to our draft concept, this year at the Siberian Venture Fair we will focus on developments in the field of biotechnology, as well as on innovative companies that are related to the OpenBio theme. Otherwise, it will be the usual format of a venture fair with pitching, master classes, expert presentations and an award ceremony.

I am sure that we will be able to gather a good line-up of exhibitors. There are a number of innovative companies from the biotech industry that have announced their participation. Right now we are working on the issue of attracting other participants related to this area," commented Dmitry Appel, Acting Director of the Novosibirsk Regional Foundation for Support of Science and Innovation.

Reference OpenBio-2019 gathered a record number of participants – 940 people, among whom were representatives of 21 regions of Russia and 8 foreign countries.
