Coordinating Genetic Council begins work

The only Coordinating Genetic Council in Russia has begun active work on the eve of preparations for the Sochi 2014 OlympicsOn April 26, at 14.00, in the Menshikov hall of the Budapest Hotel (Moscow, Petrovskie Linii str., 2/18), a press conference will be held dedicated to the start of the work of the only Coordinating Genetic Council in Russia, which includes five leading genetic centers of Russia:

Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Ufa, St. Petersburg and Moscow.

The Russian Tennis Federation (FTR) considered it necessary to include genetic diagnostics in the system of mandatory diagnostics in professional tennis. Thus, the Council united the leading Russian genetic schools and directions.

A human genetic passport is a document containing information about a person's genetic code. This information can be obtained during DNA analysis and recorded in the form of a certain combination of letters and numbers.

The genetic passport allows to establish with reliable accuracy the degree of predisposition of the patient to certain diseases, and such diseases can be myocardial infarction, diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, oncological diseases, atherosclerosis, gastric ulcer and many other serious diseases.

The presence of a genetic passport makes it possible to carry out targeted preventive measures against diseases that most threaten a particular person and effectively prevent their occurrence.

Over the past few years, genetic diagnostics has firmly established itself in the arsenal of sports medicine methods. Genetic examination makes it possible to establish almost all future physical characteristics of a person in childhood.

Today, millions of rubles are allocated from the state budget for genetic research, but athletes do not get results. Research is useless without decoding the data obtained. Several groups of scientists are engaged in genetic research in Russia, and only a few are able to give a full-fledged interpretation of the data obtained. Without the results of genetic tests, the athlete loses a lot of valuable information.

Participants of the press conference:

  • Oleg and Andrey Glotov, PhD, authors of more than 80 scientific publications in domestic and foreign publications, methodological recommendations on medical genetics, one of the founders of sports genetics as a scientific and practical direction, co-authors of the monograph "Genetic passport basis of individual and predictive medicine" edited by V. S. Baranov, founders of the WWW information portal. SPORTGENETIC.RU. "Every athlete should get his genetic passport," the Glotov brothers believe.
  • Yulia Berezikova, the only girl in Russia who competes professionally in mix-fight (fights without rules), received a genetic passport of an athlete. Master of sports in hand-to-hand combat, champion of Russia in jiu-jitsu, absolute champion of St. Petersburg in combat sambo

  • Valery Egorov, chief physician of the NGO "Hockey Club SKA St. Petersburg".

  • Goals and objectives of the Coordinating Genetic Council in the framework of preparing athletes for the Sochi 2014 Olympics.
