Do you want to work on your dissertation in Germany?

Grants for dissertation research

The Beringer-Ingelheim Foundation annually allocates grants for dissertation research (PhD) to promising young scientists specializing in fundamental biomedicine.

Young specialists under the age of 27 at the time of the end of the application process, living in the countries of the European Union and beyond, working on a dissertation on experiments in the field of fundamental biomedical research, are invited to participate in the Competition. A list of research areas supported by the Foundation can be found in the international journal of the FUTURA Foundation (see the archive on the Foundation's website).

Only those specialists who have started work on a dissertation no more than six months before the deadline for submitting applications to the Foundation can participate in the Competition. The official date of the start of work on a dissertation can be considered the date of the last exam for obtaining a master's degree, bachelor's degree, the date of arrival at the laboratory to work on a dissertation research, etc. The Foundation gives preference to candidates who are just planning to start work on a dissertation at the time of applying for a grant.

The grant is a monthly scholarship, which is initially awarded for two years with a possible extension for another year. Additionally, the participation of the scholarship holder in scientific events is funded; the opportunity to participate in seminars to discuss the work of the scholarship holder on a dissertation project is provided; visits to scientific events with the participation of former and current fellows of the Foundation.

The deadline for accepting applications by the Fund: until February 1; until June 1 and until October 1.
