Expir Project

A free service for finding funding for scientific and technical projects has appeared on the web

xpir.jpgRussian developers have announced the launch of a free service to find funding for scientific and technical projects. The system contains all relevant grants and competitions of development institutes, foundations and commercial structures.

The service monitors the websites of the RNF, RFBR, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, public procurement, the Assistance Fund, Skolkovo and many others.

In order for scientists to spend less time searching for funding, the Expir project team has created a convenient search system, collecting all the information on state support and open competitions in one place. Contests are presented in the form of a map on one screen, so that it is immediately clear where to apply and how much time is left.

Research among scientists has shown that almost half of the working time is spent on finding sources of financing for their projects. In most cases, respondents learn information about contests, subsidies and other support from the employer (71%) and on primary source websites (59%). A third receives information about funding from search engines and news sites, 42% ‒ on aggregator sites.

The new free service publishes contests from 1180 information sources, grouped by organizations and types: grants and subsidies, orders, awards, investments, infrastructure and training.

Sergey Shashev, Head of the Expir project:
"We were surprised when we found out that scientists spend half of their working time searching for funding. To make their lives a little easier, we have created an aggregator of contests aimed at supporting scientific and technical projects. The system tracks and publishes the support of almost all Russian development institutes – scientists no longer need to look for support on different sites or use search engines"
