Grant competition for young scientists from Abramovich and Deripaska

The Regional Public Foundation for the Promotion of Russian Science announces a competition for the award of search grants under the Program of Scientific and Technical Modernization and Advanced Training of young scientists of Russia. The competition is held within the framework of the scientific and technical modernization program. The program director is Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor M.Y. Kagan.

Within the framework of this competition, grants will be allocated for collective search work in five strategically important areas of science and high technology development:

  1. Energy
  2. New promising materials
  3. Medicines, new products of medical and biotechnologies
  4. Space, high energy physics
  5. Telecommunication and communication systems, IT technologies

The amount of each grant is 500,000 rubles.

Scientific collectives headed by well–known Russian scientists in each field are invited to participate in the competition, in which there must be at least three young scientists - postgraduates, candidates of sciences (up to 40 years old) and doctors of sciences (up to 50 years old) who have a significant scientific reserve on the declared topic of the project (articles, reports at major international conferences patents for inventions, certificates of registration of computer programs, etc.).

The package of tender documentation accompanying the application includes:

  1. The list of project participants, Full name, indicating the date of birth, academic degree (title), the name of the organization in which the project participant works on a permanent basis.
  2. A brief description of the scientific project with an assessment of its applied significance (0.5 pages), classification of the research stage (exploratory, applied research, R & D, implementation), indicating the time horizon for the end of R&D for the first three stages.
  3. A detailed description of the project, including the main objectives of the project, scientific background, publications, patents and inventions of team members on the subject of the project, scientific background of young scientists-members of the team (no more than 5 pages).
  4. The main results that the group expects to receive in 2012 (no more than 1 page)
  5. Assessment of the market capacity, potential customers of the project results among large Russian companies. Comparison of the level of research with European and world. The presence of highly qualified competitors.

The application containing the specified documents must be sent by e-mail to science-support@mail.ru . In the letter, in the "Subject" field, you should write grant+ underscore+Surname and initials in Latin letters (for example, grant_IvanovPN).

After the announcement of the results of the competition, the winning project managers must send official letters to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Director of the Foundation with a proposal to distribute the grant amount among its participants (the grant is exempt from personal income tax and can only be spent on the salary of the team members).

Applications for the competition will be accepted until September 15, 2011, the work of expert commissions – from September 15 to November 1, 2011.

The announcement of the official results of the competition will take place no later than November 10, 2011 simultaneously on the Foundation's website and in the newspaper "Search".

Grants will be paid in one or two tranches, starting from December 2011 – January 2012. The implementation of work on grants of the Program of Scientific and Technical Modernization and advanced Training of young scientists of Russia involves semi-annual reporting (up to 15 pages indicating publications, reports at international conferences, patents and inventions).
