In vita veritas

In Kazan, within the framework of the scientific and practical conference "Organizational issues of the implementation of the National Oncological Program in the Russian Federation", the establishment of the annual All-Russian Award in the field of oncology "In vita veritas" was announced.

The competition, which will be held under the auspices of the Association of Oncologists of Russia and with the support of the non-profit organization Association of Oncological Institutions of the Volga Region, is designed to identify and reward the best oncologists, as well as create an informal platform for the exchange of experience between specialists. Such actions will help to reduce the mortality rate from cancer and improve the quality of life of patients with malignant neoplasms.

Valery Chissov, Director of the Federal State Institution "Moscow Research Oncological Institute named after P.A. Herzen" of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Oncologists of Russia and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the award "In Vita Veritas" believes that an increase in funding for medical institutions, the latest equipment, will be useless if you do not work on training and advanced training of personnel.

The award should become a stimulating factor for new discoveries aimed at a high-quality and long-lasting life of patients with malignant neoplasms.

In addition to the Board of Trustees, an Expert Council was established, co-chaired by Alexey Butenko, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Federal State Institution "Moscow Research Oncological Institute named after P.A. Herzen" of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia and Rustem Khasanov, Chief oncologist of the Volga Federal District and the Republic of Tatarstan, chief physician of the Clinical Oncological Dispensary of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The "In vita veritas" award will be awarded in the following categories:

"Person of the Year"
(Both individuals and team leaders can participate in the nomination.)
Sub - categories:
"For achievements in the field of oncosurgery",
"For achievements in the field of drug therapy",
"For achievements in the field of radiological therapy",
"For achievements in the field of experimental oncology",
"For achievements in the field of pediatric oncology",
"For achievements in the field of diagnostics").

"The best scientific and educational project"
Co-authored works are also allowed to participate in the nomination. Projects are nominated for the award, the purpose of which is to increase the level of professional knowledge of medical oncologists.

"The best medical institution of the year""For loyalty to the profession" (the applicant in this nomination is nominated by the Expert Council of the award).

Applications are accepted from July 5 to September 15, 2011.

The winners will be awarded in mid-November 2011.
